Kvit A
Myresirup -thats news to me!
The other
day, I was in the building trade, besides a some deck washing and decking
oil, I also remember that I need to buy the old trusty ant powder (since we
have a recurring problem with ants) that I’m going to use in the garden. While
looking for the ant powder I found something that was new (in case for me) called Kvit A Myresirup!
Syrup I
thought, what else are they going to think of?! But as a curious man as I am, I
had to take a closer look at this syrup.
Ant syrup
or Ant gel, which it is also called, can be used both indoors and outdoors to
fight ants. The drug itself is a long-acting ant syrup that attracts the ants, when they crawl back to their nests they'll carry the syrup with
the active substance to the nest.
In the nest
the ant will then spread the syrup throughout the whole nest and the ants will be fought, after a week the whole nest is eradicated!
How to use
Kvit A Myresirup outdoors:
Start by
dropping the agent into slots and cracks and along marsh paths. If the nest is
placed in, for example, stone slabs or concrete, the syrup can be placed
directly in the entrance to the ant nest (if you find it). The syrup is also
sensitive to the weather, may be good to think about! Keep in mind that it is
important to protect the syrup by covering with eg. a flower pot or a brick since
other insects such as bees and hops can damage the syrup. These insects are valuable
for the ecosystem. But don't forget to check that the ants can still access the
syrup.
Important
note: Do not apply the syrup near drains or where there is a risk that the
droplets are rinsed off in the event of rain or cleaning water. Remember to always use biocides with caution. Always read the label and product information before use.
How to use
Kvit A Myresirup indoors:
The drops
are placed along ant trails and if you find the opening path you can also put
some drop there. The effect should be visible within 7 days. The entire nest
will be fully fought within 2-6 weeks, depending on the size of the nest.
Should ants remain after application, it may be necessary to repeat the
treatment again. Keep in mind that it is important that the ants don’t have any
access to any other food nor bread crumbs during the treatment.
How is Kvit A Myresirup applied?
Use 1 drop
(about 1 cm in diameter) per m2 or meter, which corresponds to 200 mg of
product. When directly treating the ant nest, 2 g (equivalent to half a tube or
10 drops) are injected directly into the nest entrance. Use a maximum of 2 g of
product (10 drops) per ant nest.
The active
ingredient in Kvit A Myresirup is Bitrex.
Now I am no
expert when it comes to ants, but I hope that the Myrr syrup will work even
better than the old reliable Myrr powder and that hopefully we will not se the
ants for a while ( I wouldn’t mind a few years of an ant free home) so we can
enjoy the summer evenings in the garden.
Now I'm
going out into the garden to try and use
the syrup on the little ants, the faster you start treating them, the faster
you get rid of them!
